Design Tip: Don’t keep what you don’t love!

Designers see it all the time.  A piece of furniture or art in someone’s home that doesn’t fit anything else in the space.  It might be a gift, a hand-me-down or something you bought  10 years ago…but it doesn’t work in your house anymore.  We hang on to these things for good reason.  We paid good money for it.  It’s an heirloom. We don’t want to hurt someone’s feelings by getting rid of it.  But the truth is, you don’t love it so why have it taking up precious space in your home?

Unfortunately, we also tend to decorate our houses around these items to try and make them fit in,  but you just end up in a space that feels disconnected and uncomfortable. So just stop the cycle and sell donate, or give away your unloved piece to someone who will love it!

I sold everything I didn’t love and ended up with almost nothing left. Sure as heck simplified my life and would have been fab if the missus hadn’t filled the void with her clutter haha. 😊
